Description of the Pink Bismol Packaging Line

The Pink Bismol –which is ready to be filled and packed- is kept in an autoclave to maintain its physical and chemical characteristics. The following steps describe how the liquid is filled out and the following operations while the bottle is moving though the conveyor.

  • 1. The liquid is bumped into a filler machine. The filler machine is set up already for the specific liquid. On the hand, an operator places the bottles on the rotary supplier table, which is moving toward the filler machine through a conveyor. A second operator verifies that the filler machine is working properly.

  • 2. The bottle with the liquid is moving toward the semiautomatic capper machine. This device is used to secure caps onto bottles but the operation is completed by an operator because is semiautomatic.

  • 3. The next step is the labeler machine. This machine has been set up for that specific size of bottle, bottle shape, size of label, and expiration date. When the bottle goes through the labeler, the label is attached and the expiration date is printed out on the bottle. To the end of this operation, the bottle is visually checked to determinate if the products meet the standards of quality.

  • 4. The bottle goes though a sealer machine. The sealer machine provides an additional way to secure the product. Utilizing the heat of the sealer machine, the seal -which is originally behind the cap- is attached to the bottle, avoiding any possible leaking.

  • 5. The film machine transports a plastic vertically toward the neck of the bottle.

  • 6. When the bottle passes though the heat tunnel machine, the plastic is attached around the neck of the bottle and cap, providing additional security.

  • 7. Finally, the bottle moves toward the rotary table where is inspected by an operator. He puts the bottles into the shippers and then placed on the pallets.
